The Minister of the Presidency, Juan Antonio de Heras, presented the 'almonds Project, an initiative which involves an investment of about EUR 11 million to revalue the almond crop in 22 villages of the Region of Murcia, among which is Cehegín.

This initiative, which will run over the next three years, will generate many jobs, especially in Puerto Lumbreras, Fuente Alamo, Pliego and Aledo, but have also opened bloom routes pass through the villages of Northwest Murciano including Cehegín.
According to De Heras, "These routes will allow otherwise discover the Region of Murcia through the almond blossom routes," adding that "it will be necessary to restore roads and invest in infrastructure to make our country more passable, and provide these routes of amenities for tourists who can think for them to maximize their beauty. "
