Public Works enhances the security of power lines on the bridge over the river Argos Cehegín (20/06/2008)

The Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, through the Directorate General for Transport and Highways, has tendered the procurement of the works to amend the power lines needed to build the bridge over the river Argos, located in the municipality of Cehegín.

The works, whose budget amounts to 84,667 euros, provide a change of the support points of a 20 kV overhead line, the burial in another part of it and the redrawing of a high voltage overhead line, since the requires redrawing give more height to improve driver safety in the area.

Currently, the bridge over the river Argos has a width of less than five meters, so that the proposed action on it will improve it with a width of three meters, which will also improve significantly the passage of vehicles through it as well to equip it with sidewalks and road junctions with the B-21 through a roundabout.

According to the director general of Transport and Highways, Carmen Sandoval, "building the new bridge, which will have a length of 120 meters and will lead to a roundabout with exits to the circle of salt water and the population of Canara, and the adequacy of power line environment, the inhabitants of their movements will be enhanced Cehegín in this area. "

In addition, Sandoval said that since it is a bridge that is part of a road frequented by cyclists, "this performance improvement will also help increase the safety of users of this transport system, which also want to promote from Department of Public Works, for which we are developing activities to promote sustainable mobility and cardio. "
