With the presence of public numerosísimo, it opened yesterday at the Archaeological Museum of Cehegín, an exhibition entitled "Begastri, a before and after", where the great archaeological finds discovered are displayed on this site, which reveal the importance of an enclave which it was populated from Iberian period until the eleventh century.

The opening ceremony, presented by the Museum Director, Francisco Peñalver Aroca, was given by the Mayor of Cehegín, Jose Rafael Rocamora Gabarrón, the Director General Simplification of Business Activity and the Digital Economy to Autonomous Region Murcia, Francisco Abril Ruiz, and Professor Emeritus of Archaeology at the University of Murcia, Antonino González Blanco, one of the banners on this site.

Antonino González Blanco, did not miss the opportunity to see this exhibition, in his words "culminates an archaeological career that has made Begastri frontline domestic deposits".

The Mayor expressed his gratitude towards Antonino González Blanco, currently residing in Madrid, who he said is worth "Adopted son of Cehegín and rediscovered Begastri placing on the map of history. The Mayor also announced another treasure that will be in the exhibition Cross Begastri, and thanked the Amoraga Sanchez family, owners of the same, "his generosity in making us part of the Cross and its historical value one of the oldest in Spain and which has only been shown to the public in the exhibition "Footprints" ".

This has happened on this day in which Don Cristobal Sanchez de Amoraga and Ruiz de Assín, on behalf of his family, has made ceremony of the Cross to the archaeological museum to be exhibited for the first time at the Museum Cehegín.

The mayor also focused on the exhibition, which said "The main objective is to provide citizens of Cehegín and the rest of the region to the riches of this site, declared of Cultural Interest".

We recall that the exhibition will be open to the public free of charge, will have their doors open throughout the month of October.

It can be, besides the Cross Begastri, pieces of great archaeological value as "hoards Muslims", which are the largest silver samples Muslim southern Peninsular contemplate;

the "Altar of Jupiter", which was the key element that allowed to place in the Cabezo of Muela Begastri the mid-nineteenth century.

Also Cehegín Lady, who has returned home (even temporarily) after 40 years.

This valuable piece demonstrates the persistence of customs over time, as it is a piece made in full Iberian Roman times and still used the native population.
