José Alfonso Soria and City have met with the Minister of Culture, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, requesting the restoration of these small landslides in the image of the Virgen de las Maravillas by the Regional Center of Cultural Property
Cehegín Mayor Jose Soria, and the president of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Maravillas, Alfonso City, have asked the Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, the intervention of the Regional Center for Restoration of Cultural Property the region on the image of the Virgen de las Maravillas.
The reason is that it has been detected in the size of the Patroness of Cehegín a slight loosening of polychrome, as reflected in the photographic report to the counselor.
As explained by the President of the Brotherhood, the director of the Regional Center for Restoration of Francisco López Soldevila, will move in coming days to Cehegín to study and verify in situ the state of the carving.

For his part, the mayor, José Soria, highlighted the willingness of the director and hopes that soon these little flaws are remedied, once a report of previous state specifying what action needed on height is issued.
It will probably be necessary to transfer the image to the Regional Restoration Center.
Both Soria as City have stressed that this action falls within normal in the conservation of works of art with almost 300 years old in which historical aspects and materials with other devotional come together, and should be understood in the context of the Virgin Wonderland is an image that receives public worship, is exposed to the devotion of the faithful and from time to time be reviewed by specialists in restoration and conservation of cultural property.
La Virgen de las Maravillas is an image made of polychromed wood in the first third of the eighteenth century in Italy and attributed by many experts the Neapolitan sculptor Nicola Fumo.
The only previous restorations which have documentary evidence are made by Murcia sculptor José Sánchez Lozano in 1981 and conducted the Regional Restoration Center in 2007 when the picture was exhibited in Murcia in the exhibition 'Salzillo, witnessed a century ', marking the third centenary of the birth of Murcia sculptor.
