The Department of Safety and Traffic Cehegín City Council, directed by María Dolores Carrasco, joins the celebration of the European Mobility Week 'Move for cleaner air', which takes place until 22 September, and which promotes the safe use of the bicycle as transportation.
"Because this mode of transport has grown exponentially and its use has grown from mere sport to become a means of transport for many people who use it daily, campaign messages of DGT are directed to raise awareness that bikes are part of the traffic and all, either as a driver, pedestrian or cyclist, we must adapt to this new reality, "said Maria Dolores Carrasco.
"We must take the place of another" is the main slogan of this campaign, in which messages are remembered as that cyclists are road users more vulnerable and drivers of other vehicles must be prudent in their behavior.
It also emphasizes that cyclists should be properly equipped and in low visibility conditions also must travel with lights and reflective.
Also cyclists must obey the same rules as other vehicles and always monitor the safety of pedestrians with whom they interact.
Carrasco Councilwoman wanted to "propose, from here, the use of this means of transport, as an alternative to urban travel in motor vehicles, winning all as the environment and health of those who use it."
