Cehegín have an 'urban oasis' in the heart of the old city (15/02/2011)

The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the new premises of the Office of Tourism Cehegín and laid the first stone of the new public space 'El Coso'.

The head of Murcia, accompanied by the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, began his visit to the town of West Murcia with the official opening of new tourist agencies that welcome visitors access to old town .

The construction of these new municipal represents an investment of 457,811 euros, of which the Community has funded 380.00 through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

This project, when completed, will constitute "an oasis town in the historic area of the city," said Valcarcel.

Municipal offices covered by a layer of vegetation

The building to be constructed in this space will be for municipal offices and will be completely built and covered with vegetation cover of the park.

This project, designed by architects Mónica García and Javier Rubio, was in the Swiss city of Geneva on European recognition award for sustainable architecture 'Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction' granted in 2005.
