The general secretary of the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, today announced the publication by the Community of the tender for works to improve access to the main farms of Cehegín, with the adaptation of an intersection in the RM-714 road with the Cañada García road, in the hamlet of Canara, for an amount of about 900,000 euros.
Yolanda Muñoz explained that this action will mean a substantial increase in road safety, since the priority of the project is "the improvement of visibility and turns, for the more than 1,800,000 annual trips recorded by this route, of which 292,000 they correspond to heavy vehicles. "
The regional manager recalled that, at the beginning of December, the Ministry signed an agreement with the City of Cehegín for the expropriation of the land that requires the action.
Under this agreement, said Muñoz, the Consistory assumed the cost of the expropriation of land (16,000 euros), which will manage the General Directorate of Roads, while the Ministry of Presidency and Development will be responsible for the implementation of the new intersection .
The action on the RM-714 road consists in the replacement of the access from the road to the rural road, currently cut off due to the dangerousness of the turns to the left at that point.
In addition, a new intersection will be executed with suitable acceleration and deceleration lanes, as well as other turnstiles to the left for the waiting and incorporation of the vehicles, and the accesses to the quarries that exist in the area will be ordered.
Likewise, the extension of an existing underground bridge is contemplated, which crosses below the RM-714 highway and which serves as a passage to the Barranco de Las Tablas.
