Numerous public gathered yesterday in the House of Culture of Cehegín, in the presentation of the book of the Municipal Archivist, Francisco Jesús Hidalgo García, "History of the school in Cehegín, 500 years of teaching", edited by the Department of Culture of the Ceheginero City Council.
The author was accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Maravillas Fernández, who also made the presentation of the act and prologue this new work that sees the light.
The book is a review of early childhood and primary education from its equivalents in the sixteenth century and up to the twenty-first century, so that it delves into the legislation of each historical period, in the ways of teaching, in schools, teachers and students, in the relationship between society and school education, in the access of women to school education as a student and as a teacher and, of course, in the ways of seeing and understanding school education over time according to the mentality, the historical, political, economic and cultural moment.
The act concluded, emotionally, with the intervention from the audience of two women who attended this presentation, relatives of two teachers who were teachers in Cehegín in the nineteenth century and whose trajectory is explained in this book.
Both had words of thanks to the author and the City Council for the publication of this work and its dissemination of culture and knowledge.
Upon leaving, all attendees were presented with a copy of this work.
