The Mayor of Cehegín, Jose Rafael Rocamora, accompanied by his Edil Sports, Joaquín López Carreño, has awarded the first grants awarded by the Consistory three athletes cehegineros elite over the past year have achieved sporting success in competitions both national and international.
These athletes have been Estanislao Lorencio and Virgilio Martínez and Fernando Loli Gea swimmer.
Councilman Sports explained that "these scholarships, six hundred euros each, Cehegín City Council wishes to acknowledge the work and efforts of our athletes, as well as help and encourage them to continue reaping sporting success"
The Mayor of Cehegín, meanwhile said that "although the priority for this government team is the sport base, we want this recognition to reward the work of these three athletes who serve as examples for beginners and, therefore, they are a reference for those young people who see in them the mirror of effort, perseverance and triumph. "
We recall that Loli de Gea, is a multimedallista championships in Spain and the World.
This year has again achieved 4 medals at European level, 3 gold medals in 25, 50 and 200 m backstroke and a silver medal in the 100m at the European Open Down Syndrome.
For his part, Fernando Virgilio Martinez, is an athlete who has participated in the Youth World Championship Athletics held in Colombia in 2015 and has become No. 1 junior national ranking.
Finally, Estanislao Lorencio has won bronze in the Championship of Spain duathlon and qualified for the World Aviles to be held on 4 and 5 June.
Last year he won the 4th place in the same championship and 6th place in the European championship.
