Cehegín City Council removes vandalism from the Torre del Pozo and the Jardín del Pato (07/05/2020)

The Cehegín City Council, through the Department of Works and Services, headed by Pedro Lorencio, continues to carry out conservation and adaptation work on public spaces.

In this case, various vandalism graffiti that ugly the Torre del Pozo and the Jardín del Pato have been cleaned.In the case of Torres del Pozo, those painted with the product Aanti iron, a metallic paint of iron oxide, have been covered, achieving a finish almost identical to Corten steel.They have also been covered, with ivory mortar mixed with white flex glue cement, of all the paint that made the covering wall ugly, which serves to protect the remains of the old tower and which constitutes the viewpoint over this part of the fertile plain of the Argos riverIn the Plaza del Pato, the sculpture of Los Alpargateros by Nicolás de Maya has also been recovered, which had been covered with numerous doodles.

These were removed by sanding the metal structure by mechanical and manual means and subsequently treated with another of Aanti's products, an oxidizer for metals that allows obtaining the green patina, for finishes on metallic paints.

The metallic paint had to be used to cover the graffiti that was visible.

This will evolve over time, oxidizing and taking on a tone more similar to the others.The City Council and its Department of City Security and Local Police have appealed to civic behavior and act responsibly taking care of the city and our Heritage among all.

Carrying out unauthorized painting expressly is an offense that may pose different problems to the person who performs them, including administrative offenses with fines of 100 to 600 euros; or criminal, which can be conditioned depending on the severity and the amount of the damages.
