The Minister of Agriculture shows his support for the various representatives of the primary sector of Cehegín (14/04/2020)

The Minister of Agriculture Antonio Luengo, the Mayor Alicia del Amor and the Councilor for Agriculture, Pedro Lorencio, have held a videoconference with different representatives and businessmen of the primary sector of Cehegín, covering issues of agriculture, livestock, beekeeping, pot, floriculture and phytosanitary .

The Mayor has highlighted "how important the agriculture sector is for our development, the engine of our economic development, space for the detection of problems and the search for solutions that concern us institutions, especially that of the city council I represent, that we cannot forget we are geographically in a place where the primary sector is an important percentage of our economy, an indispensable element as a generator of products for half of Europe '.

The counselor has commented on the concerns that have been transferred to Madrid;

highlighting the need for VAT on the pot and cut flower to be reduced to 4%;

exemption from self-employment in certain circumstances;

arbitrate in withdrawal mechanisms;

work with the insurance compensation consortium;

make ICO funds more flexible for our farmers;

promotional campaigns focused on consumption;

the declaration of the cut flower as an essential activity or the non-modification of the milk contracts.

Producers have brought immediate issues to the table that are creating added difficulties.

These include the problem of hiring people for collection;

There has also been talk of the need to lower the price of agricultural diesel in a more direct relationship with the drop in the barrel of crude.

Topics focused on communication campaigns and enhancement of our products have been discussed in our primary sector;

issues related to product royalties that hinder sales within an international market in which, in the words of the Minister, "we have to fight to strengthen and reinforce border control points so that products that come from abroad have, at less the same conditions that we demand of ours. "

On the other hand, there has been talk of the low price of the búlida apricot, the importance of communication campaigns and the mayor's proposal to link an important day in the calendar to the consumption of flowers.

Finally, the councilor for agriculture, commented "the importance of starting to open local markets so that our producers can put their genre on sale, a product that in many cases only has this sales route and is part of the livelihood economic of many of our neighbors, speaking of the sale of a basic necessity and perishable product, it would be a partial and gradual opening of the markets, obviously subject to demanding sanitary conditions ".

The mayor has expressed her gratitude to the counselor for his predisposition and collaboration with the agricultural sector of Cehegín, and for showing his concern with the employers and workers of the primary sector of our municipality.
