The Minister of Enterprise and Industry of the Region of Murcia, Ana Martínez Vidal, has been in Cehegín today where she has visited the facilities of the Marble Technology Center.
There he had a meeting with the managers of this center and see, first hand, the needs and demands of a sector as important to the municipality as is the natural stone.
A sector that, since decades, progressively increased its production capacity to become, together with construction, the main economic source of Cehegín.
The main objective of this visit has been to promote a sector that until a few years ago was one of the main engines of the local economy.
After the meeting, Martínez Vidal reported on the commitment of his Ministry to "develop a Land Management Plan for mining resources, which pursues the development of sustainable mining, and promotes the rational use of mineral resources."
Specifically, the Marble, Stone and Materials Technology Center will develop projects on digitized mining with the minimum presence of people, as well as sensorization and security in facilities such as quarries or farms.
Another project will try to incorporate disruptive technologies to companies, or even the creation of new projects.
This meeting has also served to meet with the Government Team, where the mayor, Alicia del Amor, the First Deputy Mayor, Jerónimo Moya, and the Councilor for Employment and Industry, Juan Guillén have been present and transfer the needs to the counselor of this locality and, above all, to reactivate the polygon of the Salt Water.
