The new bridge Cehegín Holy allow the passage of vehicles in both directions (27/04/2010)

The experiment consisted of subjecting the bridge to the weight of four heavy trucks arranged in different parts of the structure, in both fixed and moving

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, attended today's load test performed on the new bridge over the river Santo Argos and is located on the road RM-B21 , which connects the town with the road that goes to Caravaca Jumilla (RM-714).

The work, which replaces the old Bridge St., has eleven meters wide and has a traffic lane in each direction, which will be achieved to solve the bottleneck effect that caused earlier and prevented the passage of two vehicles at the same time.

The test was successfully performed after construction of this new infrastructure that will improve road safety and speed up communication in the municipality.

The experiment consisted of subjecting the bridge to the weight of four heavy trucks arranged in different parts of the structure, in both fixed and moving, to check the strength of this overpass for daily use.

The Minister of Public Works and Planning explained that "through this set of operations can be checked before commissioning of the infrastructure, which will take place in May, the safety of the bridge, demonstrating that the project and the execution of the works have been carried out satisfactorily. "

"This is an important infrastructure that will allow a more flexible and fluid access to the population of Cehegín, improving connections from Calasparra and through the future North highway, connecting the towns of Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Calasparra, Cieza , Jumilla and Yecla, "said José Ballesta.

Moreover, this action includes the construction of a new roundabout, already in service, which is responsible for ordering the traffic in the area and which is one of the most effective in reducing road accidents, "said José Ballesta.

Likewise, the works include the construction of new sidewalks six feet wide, and the installation of signage for vertical, horizontal and beacons, and lighting throughout the section under performance.

According to José Ballesta said "this is an important action that will benefit about 400,000 vehicles on this road each year, a work that will increase road safety in this area and improve communications with the future highway Cehegín North the town of Calasparra, enabling a more agile and fluid movement.
