The full council of Cehegín approved with the votes against the socialist group, the general budget of the municipality in the year 2009 amounting to 21,100,000 euros representing an increase of 5 million over the previous year.
This increase was driven by increased investment of 3,300,000 euros passing in 2008 to more than 7,700,000 euros this year to undertake works that will serve as the second phase of the Auditorium, the new Day Care Centre or the new headquarters to the Local Police and Civil Protection.
On the contrary, under the cost containment measures and austerity undertaken by the municipal government, the approved budget reflects the freezing of salaries of mayor and aldermen released and significant reductions in items such as celebrations, which is hampered by 15%, decreasing attention ceremonial 33%, advertising and propaganda, 35% less than last year and elected trips also decreased by 35%.
The local mayor, Jose Soria, said that "the budget presented scrupulously complies with the budgetary stability law designed by the government of the nation"
In another full municipal affairs also approved unanimously by its members detailed planning Tertiary Sector Argostalia Applications, to be incorporated into the Amendment Rules Subsidiaries of that area and sent to the Autonomous Region for examination and approval .
This represents further progress in making arrangements for the implementation in the town of shopping and leisure center Argostalia.
