The City is conducting a study to improve energy efficiency in eight municipal buildings (10/07/2014)

In order to improve the energy efficiency of different municipal buildings and save money on electricity consumption, technical Cehegín City Council conducted a study about what would be the result of replacing existing fluorescent lighting tubes these buildings LED technology.

Specifically, the study was conducted in the buildings of the City, House of Culture, Palace Sports Pavilion and Tertia and colleges of Education and Elementary Virgin Wonderland, Begastri, Conde de Villanueva Campillos and Perez.

In total, as they have explained councilors Works and Utilities and the Environment, Juan Antonio Chico and Maria Dolores Carrasco, respectively, 3,227 fluorescent tubes would be replaced with the same amount of LED tubes, which would mean an annual energy savings of 205.023, 42 kW, which translates to a cost savings of approximately 28,703 per year.

"LED lighting is characterized by long service life that has, so the investment would be recovered in a short period of time," have added both councilors, who have pointed out that this is one of lasmedidas proposed in the Plan Local Action of the Covenant of Mayors, which is attached Cehegín City Council.

In this regard, the Governing Board of the City of Cehegín approved the actions described in the project called 'Improving energy efficiency in various municipal buildings', with a budget of 99,061 euros execution and apply for a grant to the Department of Industry, Tourism, and Innovation Company in the amount of 49,530 euros.

LED technology is currently the most efficient and innovative way in which lighting about 80% of electrical energy is converted into light, consuming very little power and therefore emit very little heat.

Traditional incandescent bulbs convert only 20% of the energy into light, losing 80% as heat.

Furthermore, the light emitted by the LED is much brighter and sharper than the halogen and fluorescent.

Has an immediate power, and has no flicker and intensity variations.

Environmentally, the LED devices also have advantages because they require no gas to ignite, unlike fluorescent lamps that operate based on mercury vapor, whose components are harmful to health and the environment.
