Cehegín City Council has spent more than 2 million euros at parties, according to the PSOE (30/03/2011)

José Rafael Rocamora says, "is another example of the immorality with which accounts are managed in this City"

The Socialist Party formally requested an extraordinary plenary session to discuss the reduction of municipal salaries, which has been asking for months

Cehegín City Council has spent more than 2 million in "Festivals and Celebrations" in the last 3 years, according to data the budgets of the legislature that is now ending, an expense that can come close to 3 million euros if we add the planned expenditure for the year 2010.

Councilman José Rafael Rocamora has considered these data as further evidence of the immorality in the management applied by the Government of Cehegín "which uses the municipal revenue in trying to" distract "the public, rather than investing in its future .

In this sense, Rocamora said the submission of an application for extraordinary plenary session at City Hall to try to discuss, again, the city cut the salaries in the current crisis, the council released only reached more than € 150,000-a which he described as "unsustainable and unpresentable."

"With these data in hand - José Rafael Rocamora says, is easy to understand why municipal taxes have increased in recent years."

According to Rocamora said, the city has raised more money needed to finance these parties, neglecting to invest these resources taking into account the real needs of the citizens of Cehegín.

"And despite this, he added, the City Council's debt has increased by 4, and it is 12 million euros."

"It's hard to find a more propagandistic and inefficient that is occurring in Cehegín"

According to Jose Rafael Rocamora, holiday expenses are only a sample of "municipal extravagance, which is reflected in other economic items.

Thus, according to the secretary general of the PSOE in Cehegín, salaries of mayor and council have released more than doubled since 2003-when the PP reached the government of the municipality, and cabinet staff salaries have increased 4, surpassing the 150,000 euros (more than 25 million pesetas), from less than 20,000 euros to more than 80,000.

"This spending excessive and impossible to justify in times of crisis has forced up to 3 times to move motions proposing the reduction of municipal salaries of the Mayor and all City Councillors," adds Rocamora, "something the group is not popular still allowed to discuss the full City Council. "

"Therefore," this morning confirmed the PSOE has requested the convening of an extraordinary plenary session to discuss these motions before the end of the current legislature. "

The PSOE is expected that the money saved by reduced salaries of all city it covers a series of grants to those most affected by the crisis, such as retirees, disabled, self-employed or farmers Cehegín, for whom the socialist group claims for months a reduction in various municipal taxes that directly affect them, taxes that have doubled since the arrival of the popular mayor of José Soria.
