The Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Manuel Campos, said today that "the contribution of Civil Defence volunteers is essential in the prevention of emergencies and their coordination with other security and emergency services can become more effective in resolving disasters and ensure the maximum guarantee for the security and peace of Murcia. Campos, accompanied by the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Soria, made the remarks at the opening of the Seventh Conference on Civil Protection Volunteers of the Region of Murcia, to be held tomorrow and involving more than 250 volunteers from all over Spain .

Since the organization of the Civil Protection was launched in the Region of Murcia in the 80's, the volunteers who make up this group to cooperate with and support for emergency services professionals involved in surveillance and forest beaches and ensure the smooth running of public events.
Civil Defence Volunteers preserve the safety of citizens in any space with specialized rescue teams, such as Underwater Rescue Team, the Mountain Rescue Team, Rescue Canine Unit, the Truck Group and Coordination Groups logistical supplies in major emergencies.
