Cehegín traders feel that retail is "poor relation" (10/11/2010)

The Socialist candidate for president of the autonomous region, Begoña García Retegui, has continued throughout the day today his tour of the region.

Which already is the fifth consecutive day of travel, Retegui Cehegín visited and met with various associations and groups in town to learn more about their needs and concerns.

The day began with hosting the candidate at the Town House by the Secretary General of Cehegín PSRM-PSOE, José Rafael Rocamora, and other members of the same.

There, Begoña García Retegui gave a press conference in which he emphasized his willingness to listen to citizens, which is why he undertook the journey without rest for the region.

The Socialist candidate Cehegín referred to as "a town that was open to modernity and the socialist government but is now paralyzed."

Retegui regretted "that there is no firm commitment of the Regional Government and cultural tourism development in a municipality that has much to offer, but not with the promotion it deserves."

In this sense, the candidate added that "the landscape is a value in Europe and can not understand that it will be in the west of our region."

Traders feel abandoned

The Socialist candidate used his visit to Cehegín for a meeting with the Federation of Merchants of the Northwest Region and Rio Mula.

This group moved to Retegui concern about the situation of retail trade in the region.

Say they feel abandoned and claim to have the impression that the trade is considered the "poor brother."

These traders reported receiving minimal aid associations and confessed they had never been so unhappy with the commercial sector.

"Retail remains 6,500 jobs in the Northwest and yet, traders are forced to pay 90% of the cost of production," said Retegui.

The Socialist candidate also visited the premises of various cooperatives in the municipality.

Including the Agricultural Cooperative Quipar, Antonio German Ceramics in the hamlet of Valentine, and Canaraflor in the hamlet of Canara.

Following these visits, Begoña García Retegui stressed "the importance of cooperatives, through their efforts and resources, are maintaining production and employment despite the lack of support by the Regional Government."

Begoña García Retegui had the opportunity to distribute newsletters Cehegín Socialist Group in the weekly market of the municipality, which was accompanied throughout by the secretary general of the group.
