The Ministry of Public Works and Planning to 1,407,000 euros fund the refurbishment of a green area of about 4,000 square meters 'El Coso' Cehegin.
The aim of the project area is within the Historic of the town, in the vicinity of the Plaza del Castillo, of the Church of the Conception and Main Street.
The historic Cehegín is listed as European Cultural Heritage.
According to the general director of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro, "is an important place not only from the point of view of civic life but also to the urban image of an important part of the municipality."
The works will be developed under the project won a design competition which was also funded by the regional executive, consisting of a central platform surrounded by gardens which, in turn, will be tours of ramps and roads that will save the slopes.
This is an important factor since this space has an irregular surface with large slopes, due to the terrain on which sits the urban fabric.
Furthermore, in the middle of this space, the lowest part of the land, there will be an underground pool, hidden from view of visitors, where they will collect rain water as much as rejected by the upper part of the city, refined so that once served to irrigate the plants of this park.
This scheme fits into the conditioning program of public space that drives the regional government by awarding grants to local government.
Currently underway are projects unique in several municipalities in the region, who combine the interests of municipalities and regional government for the improvement of citizen's daily life.
