Health Cehegín renews the Active program to promote healthy habits (06/06/2016)

The Minister of Health, Encarna Guillen, signed today with the mayor of Cehegín, Jose Rafael Rocamora, the renewal of the agreement with the city to develop the Active program that promotes physical activity to promote healthy lifestyles, manage chronic diseases and combat physical inactivity and obesity.

The Active program is an initiative of the Directorate General of Health Planning, Research, Pharmacy and Citizen of the Ministry of Health, conducted in collaboration with the Foundation (FFIS) Training and Health Research, which involved the primary care centers and municipalities, to promote physical activity and encourage healthy lifestyles among citizens.

The municipality of Cehegín has an estimated population of 15,794 inhabitants, 6,742 of which are in the age group between 35 and 65 years in serving the Activa program.

The Minister highlighted the work of primary care professionals "to promote awareness and prevention, to be responsible for promoting healthy lifestyles, early identification of chronicity and enable continuity of care."

This work is reflected in the more than 11 million queries were dealt with in the region throughout 2015, thanks to the commitment of the regional government by bringing health to all parts of the region and the work carried out by the SMS professionals.

Physical activity program takes place in blocks of 30 sessions spread over 3 per week, covering a minimum of 10 weeks and will take place in two sports spaces donated by the city of Cehegín.

Classes are taught graduates in Science of Physical Activity and Sport, hired and trained for this activity for proper implementation through the FFIS.

Active program

The Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, through the NAOS Strategy for Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention of the Spanish Agency of Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN), awarded last April the first prize Active health sector program to Murcia.

The Active program, which started in 2010, takes place in 24 municipalities and 50 health centers, which have led to more than 5,000 patients to activities carried out.

Among the special and exclusive of that program that have led to the award features include prescribing exercise by professionals of the health centers in the region and its realization in sports spaces assigned by municipalities through a collaboration agreement with FFIS, which provides human resources to implement it.

More than 138,000 consultations

The basic health zone Cehegín serves a population of 14,463 inhabitants of the towns of Cehegín, Canara, Canada de Canara, Campillo de los Jimenez and El Chaparral.

Over the last year more than 138,000 primary care visits were made.

Of these, 77,644 were of Family and Community Medicine;

10,628 of Pediatrics;

and 50,150 of Nursing.

Moreover, 3,524 radiological tests prescribed in 2015 and a total of 32,435 cases handled urgent, of which 19,219 correspond to Community Family Medicine, Pediatrics and 1,852 to 11,364 Nurse recorded.
