The Mayor of Cehegín, Jose Rafael Rocamora, along with the mayors of Cartagena, Torre Pacheco, Puerto Lumbreras, Cehegín and Lorquí, held a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas, who announced their new urban regeneration actions and investments that will develop in these municipalities included in the program areas of Regeneration and Urban Renewal (ARRU) within the Housing Plan.
Specifically in Cehegín the delimited area for intervention comprises the urban area of ​​the town, affecting the old town, the downtown shopping area and the neighborhoods of San Cristobal, San Antonio, Wonderland or the Convent and San Juan or Bullring.
The investment will amount to 2.4 million, it is estimated, will enable the rehabilitation of 50 homes and the construction of another 6.
The development of the performances will take place through calls for grants by the Ministry, to be awarded to communities of owners and owners of single-family homes, while the performances of urbanization will be developed by the City.
Beneficiaries may perform these actions until May 31, 2017.
This program promoting regeneration and urban renewal, is aimed at financing the joint implementation of rehabilitation works on buildings and housing, development or redevelopment of public spaces and, where appropriate, building replacing demolished buildings, within previously defined areas of action.
These works will be performed in order to improve residential fabrics, and functionally recover historic areas, urban centers and degraded districts.
The Mayor said that "the city will be responsible for providing the necessary information, advise and manage grant applications to all citizens who request it, enabling the media, human and technical resources necessary for it."
