Citizen awareness campaigns for the prevention of gender violence and responsible alcohol consumption at parties (30/08/2019)

From the City Council of Cehegín, through the Department of Education, Women and Equality and Health that Mónica Sánchez directs, two awareness campaigns, one, awareness raising against harassment and violence have been made public Gender towards women and, another, for responsible alcohol consumption.

The campaign against harassment and gender-based violence will feature a Point of Attention to Women in the Fairgrounds, which will be coordinated by Civil Protection, whose group is headed by José de Moya, and that seeks to prevent any type of violence or sexual harassment towards women.

The mayor has reported that "the Violet Point does not disappear, but instead happens to be located along with the Prevention of alcoholic and narcotic intoxications, in the Civil Protection area."

He also added that "if next year we had to put into operation one or more information and prevention points that were detected, it would also be done in that space. It is about adapting to the needs that the party organization needs, so as to improve the operation of the services and expand them ".

On the other hand, Civil Protection will also have, in this same enclave, a place for prevention against alcohol abuse and under the slogan "The party without control has no good ending".

From this group it has been reported that, last year, 47 alcohol poisonings were counted.

For this sensitization, the City Council will be able to launch these campaigns in which, among other things, videos will be projected (on the screens located in the scenario areas) to raise awareness about these problems.

There will also be recreational activities, specifically on Wednesday, day 11, coinciding with the twinning day between the Barracas.

Messages will be sent, through WhatsApp, with information regarding the prevention of alcohol consumption at parties.

A guide on gender violence carried out by the Department of Women will also be distributed, so that it can serve as information on what violence is and the places where you can go if you need help.

Mónica Sánchez has thanked all the barracks for their collaboration with the City Council, and specifically with the Women's Center, putting up the posters for dissemination, and has also thanked José de Moya, Civil Protection, for his help and collaboration in these points of attention.

Finally, from the City Council of Cehegín an appeal is made to enjoy the holidays sharing leisure, with joy and respect so that men and women enjoy the festive spaces without suffering any form of aggression or sexual harassment and in the same conditions of equality and that alcohol consumption is responsible.
