The Humanitarian Institution has inaugurated its new headquarters, which is located on the first floor of the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center (05/04/2019)

Through an institutional act, which was attended by the mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, and the regional president of the Spanish Red Cross in the Region of Murcia, Faustino Herrero, have opened the doors of what will be the headquarters of the Humanitarian Institution in the municipality, specifically the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center (House of Culture).

With the cession of this place, the City Council of Cehegín, bets on the presence of the Spanish Red Cross in the municipality, an auxiliary institution and collaborator of the Public Administrations in the humanitarian and social activities promoted by them.

In the same way, it shows its interest in establishing a mutual collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, in compliance with the social goals that it has in the care of citizens, for a better development of social welfare in the stable and transient population of the Municipality and development of its competences, especially, attention to situations that may determine risk of social exclusion, as well as protection of public health, youth, occupation of free time, etc.

The Councilor for Health and Social Services, Antonia Fernández, and the president of the Red Cross delegation in Caravaca de la Cruz, Elena Jiménez, were also present at the event.

The Spanish Red Cross serves more than 120,000 people in the Region of Murcia in the different programs and projects it develops, aimed at people in vulnerable situations.

In fact, it pursues the promotion and collaboration of social welfare actions of welfare and social services, with special attention to people with difficulties for their social integration, the prevention and repair of damages caused by accidents, calamities, conflicts, diseases and epidemics, the cooperation in health prevention programs and actions of assistance and repair in the field of health and, in general, the exercise of any social and humanitarian function compatible with the spirit of the organization.

In this sense, through a collaboration agreement with the City of Cehegín, the Spanish Red Cross will implement 3 programs or projects in the municipality, intended for neighbors who are in a vulnerable situation.

Specifically, the Humanitarian Institution will implement awareness and promotion actions aimed at creating a favorable environment that promotes the participation of society through voluntary action, facilitating the incorporation and participation of people and groups or groups of people in activities or programs of volunteering, establishing appropriate follow-up, coordination and support measures for the deployment of the project.

It will also launch awareness and training programs aimed at children and youth: environment, prevention of diseases related to food (anorexia, bulimia ...), prevention of drug addiction (alcohol, smoking, other harmful substances), prevention of HIV, children's rights and promotion of school success.

The realization of these activities will be carried out by a team of volunteers supervised by a Red Cross Youth.

In the same way, the project of Spanish Classes will be launched, two days a week and two hours a day;

as well as social skills workshops, whose content and duration will be determined according to the needs detected in the recipients of the activity.

Both the Spanish classes and the social skills workshops will be carried out by a team of volunteers duly trained to do so.

The fundamental pillar so that all these initiatives can be developed resides in the figure of the voluntary people of the own municipality of Cehegín.

The voluntary nature is one of the fundamental principles of the Red Cross at the international level and the citizens of Cehegín will be the protagonists, with all the institutional support they may need, to form a team, and to be available to their neighbors, above all of those who are in a difficult situation, to help them in everything they may need.

The new Local Presence Point has been marked as the first objective to attract the maximum number of volunteers to carry out its work in Cehegín and will be open to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm and Wednesdays from 10:00 to 13:00 : 30
